Climate And Health Research Lab Banner

Welcome to the Climate and Health Lab. We are led by Dr. Edmund Ilimoan Yamba at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana.

Our research focuses on understanding how climate variability and change impact human health, particularly across tropical and vulnerable regions. We investigate the links between atmospheric processes and health outcomes using climate data analysis, statistical modelling, and scientific computing.

Key areas of our work include climate-sensitive diseases such as malaria, dengue fever, and meningitis, as well as heat-related health risks and air quality impacts. We also study extreme climate events, including heatwaves and excess heat, and their implications for public health systems.

By integrating meteorology, epidemiology, and data science, we develop tools and frameworks for early warning systems, risk assessment, and evidence-based decision-making to support climate-resilient health strategies.

Our mission is to generate actionable scientific knowledge that informs policy, strengthens public health preparedness, and contributes to sustainable development in Ghana and beyond.
